Join us Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 2:00 PM for our fourth Solidarity in Action event: Intro to Self-Defense and Safety by Mollii Khangsengsing. Mollii is the first Laotian female black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) with 13 years of training, and the founder of Tuff Love Self Defense and Sweaty Betties BJJ that offers training with specialization in women’s and girls’ self-defense.
INTRO TO SELF-DEFENSE & SAFETY teaches awareness and safety strategies to avoid assaults before they happen. Students also learn effective physical techniques addressing the most common attack situations: being pushed or pulled, cornered, and grabbed by the wrist and hair. Rather than relying on strength, students will learn principles of leverage, timing, and energy efficiency to defend against a stronger assailant. Regardless of age, size, strength, or physical ability, students can learn the techniques of self-defense while gaining an increased sense of personal confidence and empowerment.
What To Expect:
Class includes warm-up exercise and discussion of safety principles
Instruction in a specific self-defense technique can be practiced solo or with a partner
Class ends with drills to build confidence and strengthen reflexes
No experience necessary and no equipment required
Class opens to all ages 9+
What to Wear:
Comfortable yoga clothing. Movements should be done barefoot or in athletic shoes, indoors or outdoors.
How to Safely Practice:
To ensure proper safety practices of techniques, we encourage participants to enable their camera during this session so instructor can monitor
